Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: July 2026 | UK E-commerce & Artisan Service Terms

1. General Provisions

These Terms & Conditions govern the purchase of artisan products, gift vouchers, and the request for custom commission projects or masterclass bookings through Wild Meadow Studio ("the Studio"). Wild Meadow Studio is owned and operated by Polly Griffiths as a Sole Trader under UK law, with our physical workshops situated in Hernhill, Faversham, East Kent, UK.

By accessing our website or submitting an application for a commission or workshop slot, you agree to be bound by these terms.

2. Custom & Bespoke Commissions

Given the handcrafted, unique nature of our creations, bespoke projects (including custom jewelry, heirloom remelting, and made-to-order collections) follow a specific workflow:

  • Inquiry & Consultation: Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance. Design consult dates and project acceptances are confirmed individually by email.
  • Deposits: A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to secure commission slots and begin material procurement.
  • Design Approval: Final drawings, stone selections, and metal weights must be approved in writing before forge work commences.
  • Final Balance: The remaining 50% balance must be paid in full upon project completion, prior to hallmarking dispatch or collection.

3. UK Hallmarking Compliance

In accordance with the UK Hallmarking Act 1973, it is a legal requirement for precious metals sold in the UK above certain weight thresholds to be officially hallmarked by an Assay Office. The thresholds are:

  • Sterling Silver: over 7.78 grams
  • Gold (all carats): over 1.0 gram
  • Platinum: over 0.5 grams

All precious metal creations forged at the Wild Meadow Studio benches that exceed these weights are sent to the London Assay Office to receive their official UK hallmark, certifying purity and standard. Works below these weights may not be hallmarked by default but can be upon request.

4. Pricing, Payments & Transactions

Prices shown in our Curated Shop are in Pounds Sterling (£) and exclude delivery charges. Since Polly is a sole trader and operates below the UK VAT registration threshold, VAT is not charged on our prices. Payment must be completed securely online through Stripe or PayPal. We reserve the right to cancel any orders in the event of pricing errors or inventory discrepancies.

5. E-commerce Returns & Custom Exemptions

Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have a right to cancel standard e-commerce orders within 14 days of receipt for a refund. However, there are critical exemptions for our handcrafted benches:

  • Bespoke & Custom Items: Any item that has been customized, made-to-order, re-sized, engraved, or remodelled from family scrap gold is strictly exempt from the 14-day cancellation right and cannot be refunded or exchanged, unless it suffers from a structural manufacturing defect.
  • Standard Shop Collections: Finished pieces purchased directly from active shop drops can be returned within 14 days of receipt, provided they are completely unworn, in their original forest wax wraps and linen pouches, and sent via fully insured Special Delivery at the customer's expense.

6. Workshop Bookings & Cancellations

Workshop seats represent dedicated, private bench bookings. If you cancel your workshop registration:

  • Cancellations made more than 30 days before the booking date are eligible for a full refund or date transfer.
  • Cancellations made between 14 to 30 days before the booking date are eligible for a 50% refund, or free transfer to a future date if another participant fills the slot.
  • Cancellations within 14 days of the workshop date are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Give the Gift of Creation

A Wild Meadow Studio gift voucher is the ultimate entry key. Housed in a hand-sewn raw linen pouch and closed with botanical wax, it invites a loved one to co-design a custom commission with Polly, remelt inherited family gold into new legacy pieces, or select a finished treasure from our gallery drops.
