The Georgian Carnelian Signet
01 / Sourcing & Discovery
Sourced from the estate of a retired Canterbury antiquarian, this seal ring dates back to the Regency period. It was originally crafted during an era when personal correspondence was closed with hot wax and a family coat of arms.
02 / Meticulous Handcraft
At our bench, we chose to preserve the soft, burnished hue of the 15ct rose gold—a unique alloy characteristic of late Georgian jewellery that cannot be replicated today. We gently cleared two centuries of dust from the carnelian's bezel while leaving the hand-carved setting marks intact.
03 / Character & Living
This signet is meant to be worn daily, sliding comfortably onto the finger to become a personal signpost of history. It pairs beautifully with linen cuffs and warm candlelight, a quiet reminder of the slow art of letter writing.
